artist of the week: anton raphael muriello
Posted by Zadi Diaz

This week's Artist of the Week is Anton Raphael Miriello, or Mr. A.R.M., the founder of The Secret Society of Odd Acquisition. A collector of all things odd and unusual, Mr. A.R.M.'s custom collection is nothing short of mesmerizing.

Residing in Trundle Manor, a house built in 1910 and said to be cursed, the SSOA continues its global campaign to search for those among us who are avid collectors of the strange and macabre. It's mission is to "further and praise the collections of the unusual man." To find people who have a compulsion to collect curiosities.

"There is something about nature confined and frozen in death that intrigues me." -- Mr. A.R.M.

With his custom collection of steampunk relics, jewelry (which run anywhere from $80-$250) and masks, vintage taxidermy, and jar collection, Mr. A.R.M. and the SSOA have amassed a body of work that can rival any curiosity shop. His fascination has been a life-long one, collecting things in jars since his early childhood. "There is something about nature confined and frozen in death that intrigues me."

If you want to know more about Mr. A.R.M., the SSOA and the collection of curiosities, be sure to check out the website and inquire about dropping in for a visit to view their collection.
