Lucy and Bart is a collaboration between Lucy McRae and Bart Hess. It combines McRae's interest in the relation between the human body and its environment with Hess's work in the manipulation of the bodily form.

The two describe the work as "an instinctual stalking of fashion, architecture, performance and the body." In general, the work makes you wonder how the subjects arrived at the condition they are in. What genetic mutation occurred and why? And even better, the low-tech application makes it somehow accessible and metaphorical.

With McRae's work as a consultant at Philips Design with the Probes team, her research in far future design is awesomely juxtaposed with the darker side of what may happen in a very far future if all does not go as planned. And with the addition of Hess's talents in the art of genetic manipulation, their work together feels like it can have endless possibilities.
