It only took a few hours for Spore fans to realize its Creature Creator was so customizable they could design creatures that resembled human genitalia, or two-headed creatures that could have sex with itself. This is how the Sporn industry was born.
Using in-game tools the designers uploaded their creations to YouTube where the NSFW creatures were viewed by thousands of curious gamers around the world. I'm not surprised or shocked at all that Sporn happened so soon, but I do find it ironic that of all the potential games to get the x-rated treatment -- it happened to a family-friendly, cartoony game like Spore.
The level of detail in some of these Sporn creatures is pretty amazing. What better way to show off game physics than with a hopping, phallic-looking monstrosity?
Suffice it to say my interest level in Spore has risen drastically, and not necessarily because I want to create my own Sporn creature. Rather, I like how EA/Maxis has given gamers the freedom to create anything they want. Also I'm not entirely opposed to creating my own Sporn creature. I mean really, how could you not?
