campfire roundup: has the web killed the radio star?
Posted by Zadi Diaz

A few episodes ago we started a Campfire discussion which posed the question: Has the web killed the radio star? It was after we had visited KCRW, a local radio station that is head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to their technological savvy. The visit to the station made me an instant fan and had me quickly wondering where radio's future was headed.

I personally don't listen to radio as much as I used to ten years ago. I listen to downloaded music on my iPod or on iTunes and stream music play lists on the web through Pandora or Last.fm. Frankly, I've found out about a lot more interesting bands through the web than I ever have through the radio... but walking through the doors at KCRW, seeing their process and meeting the people who work there and the bands that stopped in made me rethink my music listening habits.

I no longer think radio is a dying bird, but maybe a phoenix rising. Below are what some of you thought. Really great conversation! What do you think?
