college students ask: do you know what twitter is?
Posted by Zadi Diaz

Kelly Sutton and Chris Lesinski over at Hack College went around their campus and asked students if they knew what Twitter was. The responses may surprise you.

Alana Taylor asks the same question 3,000 miles away in New York City, but adds in Facebook and Flickr.

Well. I live in NYC. I can expect students to know facebook, but not twitter as much because a lot of them don't really blog much. Besides, they spend a lot of their time in school stuff or activities. Twitter i think it's more for the iphone crowd. I can see a lot of people who uses twinkle, but they are iphone users. I don't think most parents will buy iphone for their kids. too expensive. As for Flickr, I used it seldomly. Not until I started to post the ny comic con pictures i took this year. Now I use it all the time and that's because my interest in photography increases again, and I found some fun flickr groups like "365 days" that has interesting projects that i can work on and improve my photography skills. I think NYC is just has too many people in a condense space, so you can easily ask a lot of people in an area to interview, but at the same time, you will not be able to find the tech crowd that easily because each individual know so many people that are not tech incline. If I didn't know digg, then I wouldn't be knowing all these social network sites at all, because most people I see everyday are not really into tech stuff.
