what do you do when you get a locked briefcase in the mail?
Posted by Steve Woolf

Today we received a box that contained a locked metal briefcase and a letter. Here's the text of the letter:

I saw a list with your names on it at Armacham & I need your help.

Armacham will be initiating a fear lab in New York City and they are going to try to contact you to take part in the test. Do not participate!

Post a video or image of this case on your website by December 3rd. After I verify you have done this I will release the combination to open the case on the forums at ProjectOriginCommunity.com/forum.

I will log in under "Case Man" on December 5th.

forget super mario, this is super obama world!
Posted by Steve Woolf

I'm not sure if we've ever had a president inspire a video game where he isn't the object of ridicule, but this might be the first. Super Obama World is a lot of fun! Watch out for the pigs and the bailout barons! MIX member Edward pointed it out on the forums.

And if you use Firefox, you might want to try out the Flash Game Maximizer plug-in that Mike Ambs pointed out to us. Super Obama in fullscreen!

interview: second skin
Posted by Annie Tsai

On Thursday's episode, Zadi talked to Peter Brauer and Juan Carlos Piñeiro, the director and producer of Second Skin, a film about MMOs. The film goes way beyond the video game addiction that gets so much attention in traditional press and covers the social aspects of games, both virtually and in real life. World of Warcraft, Second Life, and Everquest create worlds where players can truly come as they are, or take on entirely different personas. Second Skin asks whether or not our lives are really becoming encapsulated inside these virtual worlds.

google map of liberty city for GTA 4 fans

GTA 4 Liberty City Map

IGN utilized Google Map's engine to create a huge, zoomable map of Liberty City. It comes complete with various Points of Interests and other useful information. And the best part is, anybody can contribute their own discoveries on the map (here's the guide). Very cool.

My only gripe is the map itself appears to be a scan of the poster they give out with the game. It would be awesome if Rockstar released a digital, pixel-perfect map with my favorite Google Map feature -- Street View.

uwe boll wants you to look harder to see his genius
Posted by Rick Rey

Look, I am not a f**king retard like Michael Bay, or other people running around in the business... or Eli Roth making the same shitty movies over and over again.

The infamous director Uwe Boll, best known for his unpopular video game adaptations, has responded to the online petition that seeks to permanently stop him from making movies.

Whether or not this video is a joke, it's so good that it almost, almost excuses him for whatever filmmaking sins he may have committed. Regardless, somebody out there listened to him and created a pro-Boll petition, which as of right now, has about 800 signatures. The anti-Boll petition, on the other hand, recently passed the 150,000 signature mark. Good luck Boll, I look forward to your next response video.

upcoming expansion adds guitar hero gameplay to world of warcraft!

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

Looks like Blizzard is trying to take advantage of all the Guitar Hero/Rock Band success with the upcoming "Bard" character class. On paper it sounds great, but will my Xbox 360 guitar be compatible or will I have to buy another plastic guitar peripheral???

From the WoW website:

Armed with a trusty axe, killer riffs, and a ton of attitude, the guitar-wielding bard is the second hero class to be introduced in the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King expansion for World of Warcraft. The bard excels both as a solo performer and as part of a solid group lineup, able to front in a number of roles as varied as his musical repertoire.

59 games

If you find yourself bored or in need of a fun distraction, artist Ferry Halim posts his delightful flash games on his site. They are all very refined and very intuitive and easy to play. I've toyed around with about 10 of them, and they were all really simple and a lot of fun.

it's a rock band party!

The EPIC Tumblr Rock Party from David Karp on Vimeo.

Seriously, I watched this and I got reaaally jealous. Our Tumblr friends in NYC had a Rock Band party together with our friends at N3 and Frederator Studios. Looks like tons of fun. Makes me think we should form a west coast rock band, and revive the whole east coast/west coast rivalry thing. :)
